Happy Birthday...

After a number of attempts I am finally back today to post a finished card!  I set out with good intentions yesterday to complete some tags and a couple of birthday cards...sadly the mojo just wasn't happening and all attempts ended up in the trash.  Not one to give up I had another attempt today and although I only got to complete one card, I am quite happy with the result.  I actually started this card off to play with Power Poppy and their June Power and Spark: Pencil me in challenge where they wanted the use of coloured pencils...this I enjoyed and love the finished bouquet of flowers on my card but then I struggled with a layout....so after lots of blog hopping I came across this current layout #268 at JUST add INK and took some inspiration from Kim and the other ladies.  Thanks for taking a peek.

Don't let life ruffle your feathers....

Hi fellow crafters.  I am back tonight to post a card I made this afternoon.  For the layout I have played along with the latest sketch CTS#126 over at CAS(E) this sketch! and for my colour scheme I went with the colours from Color Throwdown ctd345.  I was originally hoping to use flowers on this card but I didn't really have a floral stamp that would suit this layout so I used this bird stamp instead, randomly stamping the branches to get the effect on the base layer of my card.  Because I had used birds I thought the sentiment was quite fitting...a little foot note here...as I was putting the finishing touches to this card....the strong winds we are having here today blew the door to my craft room (which is really, really old) open and it actually broke into 3 pieces...and as I was stamping this sentiment at the time I really did have to laugh out loud!  Thanks for taking a peek.

A Flip Card...

Hello from Tassie on this very chilly Saturday afternoon!  I have braved the cold out in my craft room this afternoon as I really wanted to challenge my self to make a flip card.  Yesterday, my stamping mate Robyn sent me the link to this "Flip-Card Tutorial using partial die-cutting" by Hussena over at Crafters Corner and I must say I was very impressed.  So today out came my Cuttlebug and some new dies that I received in the mail this week (happy dance time) and I had a play...thanks for taking a peek....I hope you like my finished card...

Alphabet Tags for May...

Having missed the deadline for the alphabet tag challenge back in April I have been very conscious of time running out to complete my tags for May...and finally here they are....the letter "I" which I really had to think about.  Taking inspiration from the words ink, indigo and ivy...this is what I came up with.  Using a favourite stamp from my stash which contains the words Imagine and Inspire, I used Imperial Blue ink...as I didn't have indigo....and then I came across this pen stamp in my stash which I thought I would use for the idea of ink.  Finally I embossed the tag with a vine embossing folder...this is my ivy...as you can see I really had to use my imagination!
and now for my J tag....Journey....which I really enjoyed making as I had a few stamps with the word journey on them as well as globes and I also used a train stamp from my stash which I haven't used in quite some time.  I love playing with different inks when I am making tags and this tag was no exception....thanks for taking a peek.

It's A Girl!

Hi fellow bloggers.  After many false starts I actually did complete a card on the weekend!  For this card I have played along with the current sketch 188 at Freshly Made Sketches and made a baby card for a former work colleague of my husband who has recently had a baby girl....Welcome to the world Scarlet!  It has been so long since I have made a baby card but I really did enjoy the process and am quite pleased with the end result and so is hubby...thank goodness.  Thanks for taking a peek...I'm off now to work on some tags which I need to complete today.
